WE CANNOT WAIT TO SOLVE THIS CRISIS.
Children and youth are facing more extreme weather in an increasingly unequal world. Climate-related heatwaves, droughts and flooding destroy crops, livestock, and livelihoods. Millions of children and youth are facing a hunger crisis, the scale of which the world has never seen before.
Without addressing the crisis directly, today’s children and youth will bear the greatest burden, especially those living in the most vulnerable regions in Iraq.
Iraqi leaders have been too slow to make the systemic changes needed for sustainable development, to protect children and youth. It doesn’t have to be this way.
Iraqi leaders have an opportunity to put children first at COP28 this year by giving them a seat at the table when making decisions that affect them, establishing a loss and damage fund, investing climate finance in children, and limiting global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius.
Al-Aghsan Foundation has a unique role in amplifying youth and children’s voices and encouraging leadership in the climate movement.
We aim to continue to support youth and children – especially the most marginalised who are disproportionately affected by climate change – to be part of the solution and influence decisions by world and local leaders.

As Iraq’s leading climate change organisation, we’re tackling climate across everything we do, from providing climate-resilient farming to elevating youth and children’s voices in Iraq.
Through broad collaboration and robust investment, we’re seizing this opportunity to secure a green and equal future for children and youth everywhere.
We will continue to stand side by side with children and youth campaigning for a cleaner environment and a safer world and helping communities become more climate resilient.
CAMPAIGNING FOR AND WITH CHILDREN and youth
Children and youth are leading the way towards a better world. We must listen to their calls for action and find lasting solutions that support and protect children and youth.
Al-Aghsan Foundation is campaigning for and with children and youth to call for urgent action on the climate crisis as well as inequality to create a safe, healthy, and happy future for children and youth.
WORKING WITH PARTNERS AT GLOBAL AND LOCAL LEVELS
We are working with partners to achieve the following goals:
To ensure the international community and states acknowledge the global climate crisis is a youth and child rights crisis that needs to be addressed with children and youth as agents of change.
To minimise the impact that climate shocks have on the most marginalised children and youth and ensure our programmes support climate adaptive development pathways.
To reduce our greenhouse gas emissions and environmental impacts. We are using our combined networks to influence major policy decisions, tackle the climate crisis and prevent further harm to youth and children’s lives. We are also working with children and youth and their communities to prepare for and reduce the impacts of climate-related shocks.

In the world's toughest places to grow up, children and youth are already bearing the brunt of the climate crisis and the extreme weather it is fuelling. As droughts and flooding destroy crops, livestock and livelihoods, children and youth are going hungry. Many families can't afford to send their children to school or pay for healthcare.
